Eddy GT Ultimate III: Review

Rating: (Out of 5)
Overall Performance: 3.8
Durability: 4.8
Protection: 4.3
Weight: 3.2
Look: 3.5 (White Cage: 4.5)

The Eddy GT Ultimate III is the first goalie product to be reviewed here at Hockey GearHeads, and its a very solid product.  It is very affordable compared to other goalie masks, but offers protection suited for high level play.  Eddy Masks has been making masks for years and are very good at what they do.

The Eddy GT Ultimate III is handcrafted in Canada by Eddy professionals.  One of the greatest things about this mask is the vision.  Even with a square cage, the goalie can see exceptionally well and track the puck with little to no trouble at all with bars getting in the way.  From a protection standpoint, this mask is up to par.  It is made from strong composite material with Kevlar reinforced chin and forehead.  The inside has two foams, the outer being a high density thick foam to absorb impact, the other is a more soft and malleable material to comfort the head.  This helmet is protective enough for play through juniors, but may not be suitable for college play.  The GT Ultimate III is also one of the most durable masks out there, it could be called a tank. Great durability is a common thing with Eddy masks. The look of the mask is exceptional with the white cat-eye cage, but they cat is illegal, with a regular chrome square cage it looks quite regular.  The GT Ultimate III is also priced extremely well for the performance it offers.  One drawback to the GT Ultimate III is the weight.  It is not excessively heavy, but does weigh a little more than other masks in its price range.

The Eddy GT Ultimate III is great because of:
  • Price
  • Protection
  • Vision
I would recommend the Eddy GT Ultimate III to any goalie with a mid sized budget playing 16U or anything under that.
